![]() To my students attending my Information Resource Organization class, here are two key tools that help you select and purchase reading media effectively for our social service activity on 14th December 2013. You have to choose four books or other study materials suitable for Matthayom 1-6 students at Nongsaeng Wiitayakom, Saraburi Province. To accomplish this activity, you need to familiarise yourself with the school library standard and guidelines on pupils' reading development issued by Bureau of Academic Affairs and Educational Standards. The first title provides the performance measures and internal audit criteria for annually evaluating operations of Thai school libraries and improving their information resource and service delivery. You should especially focus on Section 4 of this library standard that explains three specifications in connection with printed materials, audio-visual media, and use of information technology for managing information resources in the libraries. These details can give you general, but mandatory frameworks for acquisition as well as organization of library collections that are required by the executives and policy makers from Ministry of Education. . For the guidelines on pupils' reading habits development, this tool particularly offers practical suggestions about encouraging learners to enjoy reading and developing school libraries. It applies the Cabinet's national agenda for reading promotion to practices by officially launching the scheme '3Gs library' -- Good books and study materials, Good learning environments, and Good librarians and activities -- all over the school libraries. If you do not have enough time to skim it through the guidelines, just read Page 92-99 which explain book selection criterion, types of information resources the libraries should acquire, sources useful for book purchase consideration, and collection management procedures. Both ordinances mentioned above enable you to choose books efficiently when we start undertaking our voluntary work for Department of Library Science in December. Cheerio! To my undergraduate students registering the module 2206225 Organization of Information Resources, its course syllabus can be downloaded via both this website and the University's blackboard. See you next Thursday 31st October! ![]()

Here is a handout I produced to present in the seminar on 'Internationalization of Library and Information Science Institutions: Education, Research and Services to the Profession and Community.' This academic activity is hosted by School of Liberal Arts, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University on 11th August 2013. My handout is given during a session of internalization case studies in Thailand. I intended to write it as a summary in mind. All of my messages were, therefore, composed in form of short phrases in stead of long, complete sentences. Sorry for this untidy manner. Please note that the information presented here is derived from my own views; there is no any connection with Department of Library Science. The handout should be only used for an educational purpose. As I was invited to join two seminars on "Thai school libraries and ASEAN" in Roi-Et and Buriram Province, this PowerPoint presentation, therefore, was created to serve as the handouts of both academic events that will occur on 28th and 30th of May 2013 respectively. Feel free to share your comments in relation to this subject on my Weebly page, Facebook, or directly email me. The contemporary history of Department of Library Science, Faculty of Arts Chulalongkorn University19/3/2013 These PowerPoint slides below were presented on the special occasion of welcoming the faculty members and students from Department of Library and Information Science Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia. This memorable event took place on 19th March 2013 at Office of Academic Resources, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. We were really glad to meet our Indonesian visitors and shared ideas as well as experiences with them. |
